So, you’ve decided to take the leap and start your travels! Congratulations! But now what? You have your plane ticket and your passport; your accommodation is booked. You need to get busy finding away to stay safe and stay on top of your travels!
I know now that I’m starting to map out my travels, what’s better and what seem way too confusing for me, I’m also finding the less people I talk about it too the better my head feels as I know what fits me, but what advice I did need was some travel tips.
There’s nothing worse than not being prepared for a long ass journey to a place you don’t know your way around! So make sure your prepared for anything, so I present to you my top 4 travel hacks for women!
- Keep a Paper copy of ALL of your important documents before I go traveling I will be photocopying mine, and my family’s passports, driving licences and other important information such as booking references and ticket refences, ill also be carrying a paper copy of all my travel documents such as my travel insurance. This helps me be reassured that even if I loose say my passport I can confirm I’m me because I know my passport number! Yey! I keep all my paper documents and even an emergency bank card and some emergency cash in a travel wallet! I will be picking up a new one as mine has had a hard 4 years, but I fully recommend them they may get bulky but its totally worth having one on you, just in case! Other important information to have in there is any allergies or medical information you have and phone numbers for emergency contacts, I carry them in there too even if its on a scrap of paper (I’ll be printing a new one out on card and laminating it to keep in mine)!
- Keep yourself safe, If I ever travel alone (which I haven’t yet) always make sure someone knows where you are even if that person is in a different country that way if they don’t here back from you they know the last place you were heading and that’s something at least, Not only that but having a tracker app on your phone may help too, I personally would recommend you carry a small paper travel map around with you of the area your going to visit, just in case you end up lost.
- Plan everything in advance, I may have mentioned I’m planning to travel around Europe soon, but did I also tell you its not until 2020? That right I’m taking a whole year out to build up an income and savings, whilst actually planning my route and passages to different countries! As well as transport and accommodation, people think I’m nuts, but lets be honest I’ve been planning my two week vacation since august 2018 and I’m not going till august 2019 sooo I need to prepare.
- Pack light! You don’t need to hoard loads of clothes around with you! About 4-5 outfits maximum will be more than enough, a wash, a wear, a tear and a spare! you don’t want to carry your wardrobe with you as well as all your paper work, your camera and everything else you need to take. Keep it light as possible you may even want to keep your belongings in a carry on to make it easier for you to manage on your own, I’m trying to get my children used to carrying their own backpacks so when we go traveling they have theirs and I have mine and its going well at the moment, my daughter is only 2 though so her backpack will contain items for a day and the rest of hers will be at the bottom of mine.
