Flipping is one of the easiest ways to make money, and it’s super fun! I’ve done a lot of flipping in the past and I’m going to tell you my top tricks and tips for to get the most out of your money, whilst having fun shopping.
Tip 1 – If your just starting out then personally you need 2 things, a good camera and an eBay account, you can make your own stores after but to begin with or even as an experienced seller eBay is an amazing plat form.
Tip 2 – To begin with I would personally stick to selling clothing, not only will you be able to take good pictures with clothing but the cost of postage should be quite low depending on how many items and the types of materials, Not to mention you can pick up clothes for pretty cheap in any charity/ thrift store sales or even people giving them away.
Tip 3 – When buying your stock and wears make sure you know what season it is, is it wedding season? prom season? is it Easter? what events are on that you can accommodate too? near me local thrift shops will sell prom dresses for £10, when online they can sell for up to £300 in mint condition.
Tip 4 – All ways be honest about the quality, is their a miss-stitch? If so say it people normally don’t mind paying for an item if they can get £5-10 knocked off the original price. Not to mention you don’t want to be caught miss selling something, you’ve described it as one thing but they get something else isn’t going to look good on you. Be completely honest.
Tip 5 – If you do your research you can sell more, You’ve heard of musicMagpie right? and book scouter? if you’ve come across something you think is worth money, look into it, and if it has value buy it and sell it, you can use these apps out and about and it will give you a comparison on the prices, not to mention a lot of apps and websites like these tend to send you their own free post labels so it’s a double win for you? imagine coming across a £70 book for 10p in your local book sale?
Tip 6 – keep your stock rotated and labelled, to earn proper good money in this business you need to have a system, i like using draws and putting stickers on them the i tag each item of clothing. on my draws i have sold, for sale and to be advertised and failed sale and on the clothing items i tag the with an address if they’ve sold, the price of them if they’re for sale and the end date of auction, the cost of the item and postage cost of the to be advertised, and a deduction price of the failed sale pile ready for rotation the following month.
Tip 7 – Don’t forget a freebie, I’ve heard of people putting in a small pack of Harribos or some other form of sweets, me personally i’d put in a discount code or money off voucher for their next purchase as well as a small thank you item, I personally like adding scented tealights the bigger the order the bigger the discount/ freebie but whatever you choose make it yours, Good customer service matters.
Tip 8 – reply to every single message as fast as you can, you need to be on the ball and if that means setting up your notifications to go to your phone, then do it. you don’t want to seem like your fobbing off your customers, it’ll look bad effect your ratings and in turn your business.
Tip 9 – check in, make sure the customer is happy with their new product and ask them to leave some positive feedback, this will help you look more profession and show your customers you care.
Tip 10 – TRACK YOUR ORDERS, It doesn’t matter if its a £1 order or a £10000 order making sure you and your customer know where their goods are at all times is crucial, this maybe more expensive but take this into consideration when thinking of a price for your item. Track them. It’ll save you a lot of complaints.
I will admit in the past i made a lot of money flipping items at the time I didn’t know it but now I look back I wish I was still doing it, maybe when I have more space i’ll take it up again. You can definitely make a full time wage flipping items people have made more than £14,000 a month just selling clothes on eBay, and other selling platforms even if its just on Facebook pages, people have done this and it works, I hope my tips have helped you all and if you have any of your own flipping advice i’d love to hear it in the comments.
