A lot of people confuse a holiday with traveling, my travels haven’t officially started yet and wont start until i’m in Paris however I do have a holiday planned for Cyprus and i’m here to tell you the difference and why you should always make time for both in your life.
Having a holiday is for you to relax and take time out to breath, when i’m on holiday I still love to explore but I also don’t have the worry about how much i’m spending because i’ve saved up to go and the money is for anything I want, I also like to laze around my pool with a book whilst my children playing the garden or on the patio outside the villa. I like to have about 2 holidays a year, 1 abroad and 1 in the UK. These are normally dedicated to 100% family time, the only thing work related I do is probably take pictures, butt 99% of the time, my mind is on having 100% fun
To fund my holiday, I usually save all my money and have some “emergancy money” In my bank account (around £500ish) Just in case of any medical emergency that needs pay then and their ( I do have travel insurance but it’s just in case). And with that I use my funds to live luxury I drink cocktails at the poolside I hire a villa, I eat out often. I’m paying for the luxury.
Traveling is different when i’m traveling I don’t settle down in one location, I might be sleeping in a motel or hotel, shared home or i’ll be house sitting. I buy my own food and I would barely eat out unless i’m way under my budget and ill know I have enough money to treat my family. I also work on the road wherever I am it’s not a holiday it’s a lifestyle. I travel purely for the experience, learning culture and spending time just me and my family, Even though I said my holidays are 100% family time, so is my travels the only difference is I will be working when I travel I try to get all my admin work done in the evenings so I can pack our days with fun and adventure and plenty of photo opportunities, however that doesn’t always go to plan.
- Full relaxation
- Can lounge about and explore
- No work
- 100% family time
- limited time
- can explore tourist attractions
- eat out a lot
- one off
- part work part exploring
- explore everywhere for as long as you want
- has to have a budget
- take planning and time
- not likely to have a set accommodation
- Eat in more than eating out
- It’s lifestyle
This may not apply for every one that goes traveling or on holiday but I promise you their will be difference in each. Either way I do think a balance is needed when Traveling as everybody needs a break from work, so always look after yourself and your family.
