The biggest problem that stops everyone from traveling the world is the cost of, its apparently wayyy to expensive; now I disagree completely! I think traveling the world will cost no more than living at home would? You have £1000 a month at home? So many people live in other countries happily with less than that? So why can’t you travel? Traveling isn’t about binging in some 5* luxury hotel with a private pool and an ensuite. Traveling is about exploring the outside world your accommodation is just for sleeping, so why does it matter?
I will admit the only thing I struggle to find cheap is flights. This can be a night mare to fit into a budget, so I personally would make this a priority! Keep you air costs continent to continent unless you’re in an emergency or get a really good discount.
Small travel isn’t so bad, jumping on a bus or a train from time to time can be as cheap as a £1 (or equivalent) especially if you just going from town to town or city to city. But a lot of the time you will find yourself wondering on foot or hiring a push bike. I’ve known people to hire cars/ buggies for traveling because it was cheaper than public travel so defiantly consider that too.
Like I’ve said above your accommodation doesn’t have to be expensive either just check out air BnB I’ve seen rooms on there less than £12 a night?! £12 a night! Fully furnished, gas, electric and water for £12 a night! That’s super cheap and if you can’t do that then house sit! They pay you sometimes and you have a place to stay if you need! Win win! Make sure you look at the reviews first before you book and look around, so you know what the average price is for the area that you’re in, what might be good deal for you might not be for the area and you can get way cheaper, it’s worth saving you the extra money just to have a little look.
The most important thing to think about is food, a lot of people don’t recognize the amount of money they spend on food, it’s like because it’s a necessity it doesn’t count, wrong! Getting your own shopping and looking out for the best deals is a lot cheaper that splashing out on dining. But whatever you choose id budget for this as a priority.
PRO TIP: don’t forget to include and drinks out into your food budget!
If you’re like me and are traveling with family the most pricey thing I can think of can be activities, finding activities for children to do can get difficult if you don’t know where to look and expensive. I’ve found that if you look for things such as monuments and museums the prices can be cheap or even free! And you can find guided tours for next to nothing in most cities all around the world, but you do need to decide what you can afford on you travels, can you afford to splash out on shopping every other day or are you like me? On my travels i’ll be collecting postcards and fridge magnets! (the magnets are for my best friend) and keeping a simple journal, all I need are the memories and I’ll be happy, super cheap for me and the children to do and still a lot of fun!
No matter how big or how small your budget is planning it properly and sticking to it can be the difference in how long you can travel for! So plan smart and be careful!
