I love plastic free products, Okay so I’m not big on recycling so a bit hypocritical of me to say that, however why recycle when you can get rid of plastic all together? I find it amazing and fascinating. My biggest reason (yes, I have reasons) is because I’m a massive animal lover, I’ve told my partner when we have the money I’m having a farm full of animals, I’m joking when I say this as I don’t have nearly enough knowledge to look after that many animals, but I would love a few pets to say the least. But knowing that our plastic waste is killing so much ocean life makes me sick. What right do we have as humans to kill innocent animals especially those who are already endangered?
So, I’ve decided that I’m changing a few of my everyday items to plastic free or majorly reduced items and I’m honestly impressed with what I’ve found, there are so many things that are out now that are helping the environment that it’wq1s hard to narrow it all down but the first is probably the most obvious and that’s plastic straws, I’ve decided I’m going to be carrying bamboo straws with me, at least that way if they do find there way out into nature they’re biodegradable and harmless to wildlife. Plus, they look cute and they’re reusable, I’ve also seen glass straws about I don’t think these will be environmentally safe however they’re still I good alternative as they are re-usable so still helping out and if you do opt for glass ones they come in so many different colours and have amazing patterns on them! Why not get one?
Plastic bottles, everywhere you look there’s always plastic bottles about and it doesn’t half trigger me, I hate it. The amount of litter I walk past in a day I’d say a good 80% of it is plastic god damn bottles, every time I forget my water bottle when I’m out it greaves me so much when I have to buy yet another plastic bottle of water. Id rather bring my own water bottle and re-use it when I need to but I’m incredibly forgetful so coming up with a way to never forget my bottle will be a tricky one, but I will do it.
My next one that I’m really looking forward to getting is my toothbrush! Again, I’ve opted for a bamboo one because if it does make its way to the ocean or other wildlife filled habitats id rather it be not harmful, biodegradable and safe. These can also come in a range of cute colours and can come in packs that are also plant based as well as the wrap they’re in so how adorable is that!? These brushes are 100% plant based which means even the bristles are bio-degradable and safe. Besides they’re supposed to give you an amazing clean feeling after.
Bees-wrap, I don’t know if many of you guys have seen this around, but plastic wrapping is one of the most problematic plastics in the world! However, a company has made a completely safe AND REUSABLE wrapper! And its call bees-wrap! Its basically a cloth that has been dipped in bees wax, jojoba oil and pine resin, also if they’re properly looked after they can last up to 1 year! A whole year! So not only are they safe but they’d probably save you money. You won’t need to buy sandwich bags, clingfilm or foil for a long time. They’re water tight and keep your food fresh, they also “cling” to containers meaning so spillages. They come in so many cute patterns and colours too super cute!
The last product I’m going to write about is Bite toothpaste because oh my god! They look like little pills, these are all natural and not contained in a tube but a small pill bottle, so you can reuse it! These come in two different types of “bites” and that’s mint and mint charcoal, all you do is bite and brush. The “bite” will foam in your mouth and all you have to do after is smile! These are made with organic and plant-based products too, so you know their isn’t any harsh chemicals going into your body. Win-win right?
Waste has gotten so out of control I do believe that’s its starting to effect not only other animals’ homes but ours too, it clutters our streets, our drains, our gardens and our play parks I hate taking my children to my local park because of the rubbish that fills it. So, I think reducing your plastic waste can definitely help, or at least start making our planet green again. I don’t know much about carbon footprint or the damage waste is doing to our planet, but I can tell you I know what beauty looks like and we are ruining the natural beauty of our planet and its sad, you can barely walk across a shoreline without coming across litter. And even though I don’t recycle the first step is to reduce right?
Do you know any other ways to reduce plastic waste? I’d really love to know how so please leave a comment as I really want to make a difference and do my part for the planet.
